These are the results for our survey on bullying which we created using Microsoft Excel, it shows the ages of the people who took the survey, their height, weather they have been bullied or not and if they have bullied someone before. We are not going to be using these images on our website but we will be writing about them and using the figures in some way.

This is a screen shot of my survey that I created. The information gathered will be used on my website in the "Survey" page. We gathered the information from the survey by handing it out in our school to the pupils and getting them to answer it. We also gave it to some of the teachers to broaden the age range, otherwise it would only have been children aged between 12-18 which fits our target audience but we required answers from older people.

Evaluation

This is our evaluation for out new website Teens.Stop.Bullying. In this evaluation I write about all of our ancillary tasks such as the website analysis. As we are retaking it was hard writing about the work we did last year as it was such a long time ago so we had to go back and re-read through what we did and try our hardest to remember what we did.

Website Screen Shots

This is my website screen shot page. It shows each page of my website as if you were looking at it on a web browser. I have also written a small paragraph below each shot explaining what each page is about. Since taking the screen shots I have made some minor adjustments to the website and added things like titles to each page as there was no way of the viewer knowing what page they were on.

Photo Planning

This is my photo planning for our website. I visited a number of different bullying websites and looked at what types of photos they used on each page. I am not sure yet if I'm going to stick to this plan completely as it all depends on how each image fits and looks on the page. If a picture doesn't fit on the page or doesn't look right I probably wont use it and will come up with a new picture that will relate and suit the page.

This is my 6 website analysis. Each website is related to an anti bullying campaign in some way or another. Although not many of them focus specifically on teenage bullying like our website does we thought it would be interesting to find out how these websites give their information and how its written.

Comparison Of Websites

In this essay I will be comparing my website on Bullying with a few other websites based on bullying in schools and other social places.

I will be looking at my homepage, seeing how the layout, text, font, and media (video and pictures) differ, and how they are relevant to their target audience. Also how the other wesbites display their information compared to how we decided to lay it out.

I will be choosing 1 page from each of the 3 websites, and comparing it to my website, this will tell me how good my website is compared to other professional websites.

When looking at this website we see it has a clear logo located in the top right hand corner and this remains consistent on every page. This website also includes the same layout on every page using mainly red and white colours in the background and writing is written in black and varies in font and size, as with our website our colour and logo is consistent on every page and we also used black font for the main text varying in size.

When looking at this and our websites’ homepage we see they are both fairly basic but are informative providing directions onto other pages, this website actually has one more page on the search bar allowing viewers to click on the option they are looking for easily.

Both websites use images to coincide with the subtitle, however this websites’ pictures are of more positive people in a more homely surrounding where as the content of our images were of more negative effects of bullying and this is key as it sets the mood for the viewer and we feel we will have to change some images, however our website includes one video in which this website does not, and with a video it can tell a story and is more interactive with the viewer.

Overall the content of the website is limited but is similar to ours, they both provide basic but essential information on the matter of bullying and also this website contains a link to another website of a similar aim and so the directory search bar helps a lot when navigating around this site.

When looking at this website immediately we see it is more colourful and is filled with a lot more on the home page, this website also has a clear logo as does ours, and this again remains consistent on every page. When looking at the layout of this website compared to ours, we see this website has a lot more information on it and so much of the homepage is directing the viewer to the variety of information it offers. Our website contains eight subtitles leading the viewer to the information we have to show, where as this website contains many more subtitles which also have branches off to other areas of information.

However this website has a lack of images or videos which in which we have included, and I feel without images or videos it provides a lack of engagement from the viewer to the website, however they have provided many other places where information can be found as they have an advice and support section clearly at the top of their homepage.

Another factor which differs for the two websites is the target audience, this website contains more information on each page partly because many of the case studies and information is aimed at a wider range of students and children where as ours is aimed mainly at 10-14 year olds.

When comparing this website to our website we can instantly see that this website contains a lot more information and direction to other important information, however the layout of this website comes across very plain as orange and white are the only colours used apart from the black writing, I feel orange is too light a colour whereas blue is more of a comforting colour and isn’t as bold (stands out less). Also this website contains a search bar and an a-z searching tool where you can type what you are looking for, whereas our website only contains the search bar.

I feel both websites give clear directions to the viewer; however this website contains a lot more information on a wider range of aspects that are linked with bullying. This websites’ target audience also appears to have a wider range as it has a “young people” section and a “crime and justice” section; however our website actually focuses more on ten – fourteen year olds from the start to the middle of secondary school in most cases.

Overall I feel our website is more user friendly but provides less detailed information in which this website can offer a lot of information across a wider range of subjects circling around bullying. For this reason I am going to be making the writing a lot more detailed on each page. Hopefully this will bring our website up to a standard that is competitive with the other anti-bullying websites.

Evaluation:

When I first started making my website I was planning on having a homepage that had only the titles of our other pages. These were going to be scattered around this page. We made this page and stuck with it for quite a while. We then had a look at some other bulling websites like http://www.beatbullying.org/, http://www.childline.org/bullying, and http://www.bbclic.com/

After looking at these websites we decided that our design wasn’t very conventional compared to other websites, and so decided to change it to a more conventional looking one with the links to the other pages along the top of the page. Also because it allowed us to keep the style consistant throughout the website.

As all of the websites we looked at had a similar layout and colour scheme we decided to follow these styles. The colour scheme that most of them had included the colour blue so we went for blue and white as it made the blue stand out. We chose these colours also as they seemed kind on the eye, almost attracting you to the page which is what you want, not to put them off.

As the colour schemes were the similar to other bullying websites we felt that we wanted to make our website slightly different. To do this we decided to put less pictures on our website and more spaced out information. This was because on the other websites we looked at they all included lots of small animations and pictred and we found it slightly hard to read.

To ensure anyone who uses our website can find their way through it easily we decicded to use a convention look with all of the links in the same place in every page. And in the same order. The titles of the links were the same as what the title of the page it was linking to was. For example the link to the “About Us“ page was called “About Us“.

Doing this made the website very easy to navigate through. We also added a small “Friend in me“ Title at the bottom of each page in the same place each time. This linked back to the homepage each time. All of the links were the same colour and font style and size. The font on each page was the same appart from some quotes etc. We also made sure everything that was the same on each page was in exactly the same place on each page. Doing all of this made the website look a lot more professional.

Overall we were aiming our website at 10-16 year olds so we wanted to make the website eas to read for them but also keeping them interested at the same time. The photos were the main way we did this. We feel that our website is very competitive compared to the other websites and even better then some of the other ones.

Final marking

Taylor, your blog needs to have the whole list of blogs on it - please look at the front page of the website, down under the results sheet, and make sure that every single one of the points for the main website are done. Your blog is a bit untidy and needs everything to be in the right date order. The pictures of your web pages don't need to be so large (make them smaller or put them in a column on the right hand side) and they need to be captioned.

This is the website for our preliminary task. It is the Tunstall High Website and is completly finished.

In today's lesson we decided to completely change the look of our website so we have a new look endure and will be putting the rest of the content on it.

This is the video for our bullying website.

We have now teken and edited all our pictures, and are planning on where to put them on the website. We have also filmed and edited our video and posted it on our website. I will also be putting the video on my blog. Today we are going to work on the paper side of this assignment.

In today's lesson we edited all our photos, we now all have all 8 edited and ready to be put on our website. The next thing we are going to do is film our video and edit it.

Brief

We are a campaign set up to help children cope and manage with bullying.

We know bullying can happen in many different ways and can affect people

differently.

This website is put in place for children and teenagers, to learn the concept of

bullying and how it can be dealt with with. We host charity events which go

towards youth facilities and anti-bullying programs in schools. 

Our website is going to be aimed at all students male and female who are being

bullied and need help. It is also for people who want to find out about bullying

even if they aren't being bullied.

The colors will be quite simple, they will be White and blue.

We are going to have pictures on every page of the website. We are going to take

pictures our self and also the video.

The website will be called "friend in me". The website suggests that it will try

to appeal to teenagers who need ask for help. It will aim to get teenagers to

become more confidence and get help with their problem.

The website will have 8 pages, the homepage, an about us page,

Case studies page, a donate page, events, and we need of one more page.

In today's lesson we added some more to our bullying website. We also had a think about our survey and what will be in it. We now have all the pages in our website but only two of them have been started. We did this so we could sort the links on the homepage out.

In yesterdays lesson we decided to do some more of the Tunstall High school website. We have pretty much finished both the homepage and the media page. It is almost complete now just need to make a few tweaks, I will be posting the website on my blog soon.

In yesterday's lesson we managed to set up some HTML codes so we have a bit if animation in our presentation. We are going to try and work on some other pages today and link them.

In todays lesson we carried on with our bullying website. We tried to set up some rollover images but it is hard to do on iWeb and it didnt go to well! We are going to try again on Monday but we might have to change to something else.

In todays lesson me and Craig did some more of out website. We have chosen a colour scheme which will be blue and white. We have also decided what the eight pages that will be in the website will be. We are planning to do at least half a page of our website a day from now on.

In today's lesson me and craig came up with an idea for our website. It's going to be a charity website on bullying. We are thinking of calling it either "You've Got A Friend" or "Friend In Me". We are hoping to have the song "You've got a friend in me" playing in the background when the website is opened. The colour scheme of the website will be light blue and White. We need to decide what the eight pages will be but we have a few ideas.

In yesterday's lesson we went into groups of two. I am now with Craig and we have just started to set up our website. We haven't yet chosen what topic our website will be themed with but we will be choosing today.

In todays lesson we filmed a short clip for our school websites. We are going to tart editing them tomorrow and also finish off our websites.

In today's lesson 27/01/2011 we carried on making our websites. I have nearly finished designing mine now on iWeb. I also set up email blogging on my blog.

This is the design for my school website. I have called it Tunstall High. This is the plan for the homepage, the media page will be similar to this but with different information.

Photo Edits

This is the image I edited using Photoshop. The photo on the left is the original, it was taken on a golf course in Croydon. Using Photoshop I altered the brightness and contrasts. I also applied an effect which is visible around the edges of the picture.

Today I finished my survey. I also started my preliminary website.

In todays lesson 19/1/01 we started to make our surveys.

In todays lesson 18/1/11 we analyzed school websites. Commenting on their appearance etc.
